Contact
Corrections, disagreements, pitches and press. We read everything and reply to rather less than everything, which we would rather admit than pretend otherwise.
If you are sending a correction, please include the essay title and, where you can, a source. Corrections that change an argument are published with a dated note at the top of the piece rather than buried at the bottom.

Editor
Corrections
The fastest route. Include the piece and the specific sentence. We do not argue about typos; we fix them.
Pitches
We commission rarely and pay on acceptance. Send an argument in three sentences rather than a topic in one, and tell us what would make you wrong.
Press
We do not participate in embargoes or briefings. If a document is public we will read it; if it is not, we will wait until it is.
Syndication
Essays may be quoted freely with attribution. Full reproduction needs a note first, mostly so we can point at the current version.
